Again it illustrates the Shepherd and his sheep. To buttress this point further, let’s look at Psalm 23 quickly. Sin should never make you shy away from God because He doesn’t condemn you. Rather, he comes looking for you… Sending you love and reconciliation letters to come back home through… preachers, sermons, flyers, tracts, etc. He doesn’t condemn us when we fall short and stray away in sin. This is the loving and graceful character of God our shepherd. He rejoices and carries the sheep on his shoulders. But the Shepherd reacts to the sinner differently. If I were the one, I would spank the heck out of the sheep and drag the sheep by the throat all the way back in annoyance for the trouble it gave me.

Afterall, it was the sheep that disobeyed. That one lost sheep meant so much to him that he could not go on with the journey without it. The shepherd took it upon himself to go and look for the lost one. He left 99 and went to look for the sinner sheep. How did the Shepherd (God) react to this sheep’s disobedience? It did not obey the shepherd's (God’s) direction. One of them refused to follow his lead, it strayed away. But let us delve deeper.Ī shepherd (God) is leading 100 sheep. The surface level meaning is that heaven rejoices when a sinner repents. There is a lot of mystery behind this parable. Luk 15:7 I say to you that likewise joy shall be in Heaven over one sinner who repents, more than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. Luk 15:6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost. Luk 15:5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. Luk 15:4 What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after that which is lost until he finds it?
